Expert Online Tutoring
Concept Tutors provides expert 1-to-1 online IB Physics tutoring. Physics requires students to bridge conceptual understanding with mathematical application — two skills that need to be developed simultaneously. Many students understand theory but cannot translate it into correct equations under timed conditions.
The Curriculum
The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a globally recognised educational framework developed by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). Rather than rote memorisation, the IB develops critical thinking, self-directed research and intercultural understanding. IB qualifications are accepted by leading universities in over 90 countries including the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and the Netherlands.
Grade range: PYP (Ages 3–12), MYP (Ages 11–16), DP (Ages 16–19)
Boards: International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO)
Exam sessions: May and November each year
The Subject
Physics requires students to bridge conceptual understanding with mathematical application — two skills that need to be developed simultaneously. Many students understand theory but cannot translate it into correct equations under timed conditions.
Our tutors use diagrams, real-world analogies and step-by-step derivations to build genuine understanding. Sessions integrate theory with past paper practice, focusing on the calculation methods and terminology that examiners reward.
IB Programmes
The IB offers three interconnected programmes for school-age students. Each builds on the last and shares the IB's commitment to inquiry-based, internationally-minded education.
| Programme | Ages | Summary | Assessment |
|---|---|---|---|
| IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) | Ages 3–12 (Kindergarten to Grade 6) | An inquiry-based curriculum framework for young learners that develops curiosity, communication and international-mindedness. PYP is not subject-specific but organised around transdisciplinary themes. The PYP Exhibition in Grade 6 is the culminating assessment where students independently investigate a real-world issue. | Internal assessment only. No external IB examinations at PYP stage. Schools assess students through portfolio evidence and the PYP Exhibition. |
| IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) | Ages 11–16 (Grade 6–10) | Connects classroom learning to the real world through eight subject groups: Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, Arts, Physical and Health Education, and Design. Each subject is assessed against four criteria using a 0–8 scale. The MYP Personal Project in Grade 10 is a significant independent research project. | Schools assess internally against IB criteria. External eAssessment is available in Grade 10 for schools that choose to offer it. MYP results do not produce a separate IB certificate but serve as direct preparation for DP. |
| IB Diploma Programme (DP) | Ages 16–19 (Grade 11–12) | A rigorous two-year pre-university programme. Students study six subjects across six groups, with three at Higher Level (HL) and three at Standard Level (SL). Additionally, all DP students complete Theory of Knowledge (TOK), an Extended Essay (EE) of 4,000 words, and CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service). Maximum score is 45 points; universities typically require 30–38+ points for competitive programmes. | External examinations in May and November. Internal Assessments (IAs) in each subject contribute 20–30% of the final grade. TOK and EE together contribute up to 3 bonus points. |
Within the Diploma Programme, every subject is offered at two levels of difficulty:
240 teaching hours over two years
More demanding and in-depth. HL grades carry greater weight in university conditional offers, particularly for competitive courses like Medicine, Law and Engineering. Students take exactly three HL subjects.
150 teaching hours over two years
Covers the core syllabus with breadth rather than depth. Provides a strong academic foundation without the intensity of HL. Students take exactly three SL subjects.
Why 1-to-1 Tutoring
HL Physics requires confident manipulation of equations in unfamiliar contexts. Tutors build both the physical intuition and the mathematical fluency needed.
IB Physics IA requires students to design and analyse an experiment. Tutors guide students through data analysis, uncertainty calculations and report structure.
The options section (Astrophysics, Medical, Engineering or Imaging) is often under-taught in schools. Tutors provide comprehensive coverage of all options.
Global Reach
Concept Tutors serves students across the globe — from the UAE and Qatar to India, Bahrain, Singapore, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, the UK, the US, Canada and beyond. Our online model means location is never a barrier to quality tutoring.
IB schools in the UAE include GEMS World Academy Dubai, Dubai International Academy, Swiss International Scientific School, Greenfield International School, Raffles World Academy, GEMS World Academy Abu Dhabi and Raha International School. IB students in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Qatar frequently seek tutoring support for HL subjects, Internal Assessments and the Extended Essay.
India has over 200 IB World Schools, with the highest concentrations in Delhi NCR (Gurgaon, Noida, New Delhi), Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and Pune. Leading IB schools in India include Pathways World School Gurgaon, The Shri Ram School, GD Goenka World School, Dhirubhai Ambani International School Mumbai, Ecole Mondiale Mumbai, Greenwood High Bangalore, Stonehill International Bangalore, Oakridge International Hyderabad, Indus International Bangalore and The International School Bangalore (TISB). Online IB tutoring demand is particularly strong in Gurgaon, Noida, South Delhi, Mumbai (Bandra, Juhu, Powai), Bangalore (Whitefield, Koramangala) and Hyderabad.

Common Questions
How does 1-to-1 online IB Physics tutoring work?
Sessions are fully online via a shared interactive whiteboard where tutor and student write, draw diagrams and work through problems together. The tutor shares their screen for worked examples and students can annotate questions in real time. All sessions are recorded so students can revisit explanations before exams.
How many IB Physics tutoring sessions do I need?
This depends on the student's current level, how far the exams are and how many gaps need to be addressed. Most students see meaningful improvement with 2 sessions per week over 2–3 months. We offer packages of 24, 50 and 100 classes to suit different timelines and levels of support needed.
What is the difference between IB Core and Extended?
IB subjects are designed to stretch students at the appropriate level. Our tutors assess the student's current ability and advise on the most suitable tier.
Do your IB Physics tutors cover past papers and mark schemes?
Yes — past paper practice is central to every tutoring programme. Our tutors use diagrams, real-world analogies and step-by-step derivations to build genuine understanding. Sessions integrate theory with past paper practice, focusing on the calculation methods and terminology that examiners reward. Examiners reward specific language and method; our tutors train students in exactly what earns marks on their specific board.
How do I start IB Physics tutoring?
Book a free trial class using the button on this page. The first session is a diagnostic — the tutor assesses the student's current level, identifies gaps and outlines a personalised plan. We will contact you to confirm the session time within a few hours.
What IB Physics topics do your tutors cover?
Our tutors cover the complete IB Physics syllabus — all topics, all question types and all paper formats. For IB, this includes the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) syllabuses. Sessions are adapted to the student's specific school board and syllabus year.
